PARISH NURSES HAND ON THE LAMP

admin
Elizabeth Robb addresses Parish Nurses at Claydon house.jpgBBC’s Songs of Praise presenter Pam Rhodes was guest of honour when Parish Nurses gathered to “Hand on the Lamp” at Claydon House in Buckinghamshire on Thursday, 12th August 2010, for the centenary celebrations for the death of Florence Nightingale. Parish Nursing Ministries UK (PNMUK) held the event at the home of Florence’s sister and where Florence spent many months of her life over the years. The event drew Parish Nurses and supporters from all over the country and saw them joined by Elizabeth Robb (pictured) Chief Executive of The Florence Nightingale Foundation, for the celebrations, a short church service and “tea on the lawn” just as Florence did annually with her nurses. Helen Wordsworth, UK Co-ordinator at Parish Nursing Ministries UK said “We are delighted that Pam Rhodes and Elizabeth Robb were able to help PNMUK celebrate the enormous contribution made to nursing by Florence. The understanding that she had for the concept of “whole-person health-care” is at the centre of the work that Parish Nurses undertake throughout communities across the UK today”.
